"The Wiz"

Advanced Drama Winter Musical

A dancing tornado lifts Dorthy from her Kansas home, dropping her in the land of Munchkins. In this delightful tale filled with song and dance, Dorthy "eases on down the road" with the Scarecrow, Tinman, and Lion, passing through the land of the dreaded Kalidahs, poppy fields, and the emerald city, meeting The Wiz, and defeating the horrible Evillene before finally finding her way home again. The rock and roll re-telling of L. Frank Baum's "The Wizard of Oz" featured favorite songs such as "He's the Wizard," "Ease on Down the Road," "Everybody Rejoice," and "If You Believe," and provided fun for the whole community!

"Annie"

Spring Musical

On August 5, 1925 a new comic strip appeared on the pages of the New York Times, and "Little Orphan Annie" immediately entered the hearts of Americans. Over the next fifty-three years the lovable red-haired orphan not only continued her daily adventures in a comic strip, but became the subject of two movies, and finally the star of a Broadway musical in 1977. Twenty years later, the talented students at Mission Viejo High School brought the story to life on stage once again. The production of "Annie" featured a cast, crew, and orchestra of nearly 100 students performing show stopping numbers such as "It's the Hard Knock Life," "NYC," and "You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile."

The following students were recognized for their achievements at the M.A.C.Y. (Music and Arts Commendation for Youth) Awards:
