Drama 4 auditions and IB will be held the first week of June.  Please prepare 2 contrasting monologues (new pieces), total length 5 minutes. IB theater students are asked to turn in an essay or research paper from their English or Social studies class as a writing sample.

* Note:  Cappie voting day is May 19th

You will be presenting information about the acting style, with a power point or poster and a handout for the class.  You should also prepare a physical exercise for the class to try that reflects the acting method.

 

You will then be given presentation days to repeat this with the period 2 Drama 3 class.  You will be introducing them to these style of acting.

Drama 3 auditions will be held the second week of  June (after Charlotte's Web).  I will also be observing your progress on the production and character development.  For the audition prepare 2 contrasting monologues that demonstrate your range in comedy and serious drama.  No Shakespeare. My objective is to see character differences both physically and vocally in your characterization in the monologues. You also must have an A or B in Drama 2 and a 2.0 grade point average.  Drama 3 does require after school rehearsals.

 

Note: Cappie voting day is May 19th.

Class syllabus 07-08

 

  Students are required to see one live theatrical performance and review it for each Semester, This is a mandatory assignment worth 100 points. After attending the  show, students have 2 weeks to submit the review.

Past due  Homework:  Read and take notes from Theater Art in Action book pgs 74-81,202-225 on set building, painting and design

 

Monday, May 12 due- Period 6 - Set scrapbook - 15 pictures 2 doors, 2 windows, 2 marble, 2 interesting furniture, 5 different time periods, 2 examples of wood grain. Write a sentence about why you found the picture to be interesting for your set designer collection.   Include a cover that represents set design

Tuesday, May 13  - set scrapbook due

 

On Monday and Tuesday - We will be working on our set model for Cinderella.  Be sure to bring a box  and any materials you need to work on your set model.

 

 

Here are some examples from the past---can you pick out the style or location of Cinderella in each of these designs?

 

Weds and Thursday - Being working on Shakespeare's Theater and  "A Midsummer Night's Dream".

The project: Prepare a monologue from the play and present to the class next week.  Monologues will be given to you to choose from a list.

 

Drama 2 auditions will be held the first week of June- You must have an A or B in drama 1, have a 2.0 grade point average, and prepare two monologues. One Shakespeare monologue (1-2 minutes) and one modern monologue (1-2 minutes).

You may use the Shakespeare monologue you prepare from Midsummer.

Cast /Crew Schedule  Note :  Everyone is required to be at these rehearsals from this point on!!!


*Note: You will be dismissed from classes on Thursday, May 15th at 12:00 to go to Saddleback College.  Get your lunch before you arrive.  Be in costume and ready to start at 1:30. 

 

There is no food or drinks permitted backstage at Saddleback. Finish all your lunches and dinners prior to entering the building.

 

If you need a ride to Saddleback College, we are arranging carpools with parent volunteers. Please see Rachel for the carpool list.
