Due to copyright
restrictions, most contemporary monologues and/or scenes cannot be posted on
the internet, alas, there really aren’t very many GOOD contemporary
monologue/scene sites. We have a few
listed below, but suggest getting the books for better
options. If you find a good
site that has contemporary monologues and/or scenes from published plays, we would love to know about it and
would be happy to link it to this page. |

The WWW
Virtual Library – Theatre and Drama Here you will find pointers to resources in more than 50
countries around the world, for professionals, amateurs, academics and
students of all ages. The site attempts to be multi-cultural and
multi-lingual. The site is updated daily.
A great place to start. There are only a few (~15) on this page, but they
are worth checking out. From plays
and tv/film. This site has a lot of great monologues – from film and
stage. Make sure you know if you are
getting a piece from a play or a film.
Also, for some reason, the person who put this site together decided
to give titles to each monologue. This
is misrepresentation. If you ever
present one of these monologues, make sure you know the name of play from
which the monologue was extracted. This site doesn’t have tons of monologues, but the ones they have are solid. You can’t go wrong picking one from this
site… just make sure you choose one that is suitable for your type. “Welcome to the most
comprehensive Catalogue of Plays in the World. We offer virtually every Play
currently published in the English language, arranged primarily for those of
you searching for a play for performance - browse Plays by Genre where most titles include a brief synopsis
and basic casting requirements. We
also stock several thousand out-of-print plays & theatre-related books,
any of which can be purchased safely via Secure Server & usually despatched within 24 hours.” “This collection contains
plays available for production and monologues available to actors for
audition purposes. These works have been submitted to this site by
playwrights from around the world.” Anne’s Page of Actor’s Monologues “This page was designed for
actors, like myself, in search of monologues for auditions, classes, etc.
I'm trying to include a good variety of monologues, from traditional to
more...unique content. No copyright infringements are intended--I've
quoted and credited the excerpts as accurately as I can. These should
be for academic/personal use only.” An EXTENSIVE list of one-acts from which you may find scenes or monologues. The Dramatic
Exchange is a script exchange site on the web. It is a place where playwrights can post their
otherwise unpublished scripts, and where readers and producers can look for
plays. It has been online in one form or another for more than seven years,
and has over 400 plays online; they range in quality from excellent all the
way down. |
