Friday, February 13, DAY 1:

5:30 a.m.       

By Bus:  Depart by bus from MVHS for LAX. 

 

For this trip, you MUST BRING YOUR PICTURE ID.  You will not get onto the bus without it!  You need it at the airport, Empire State Building, Ellis Island, Statue of Liberty, Rockefeller Center, the Met….. you get the idea. 

DO NOT FORGET YOUR ID!!!!

9:00 a.m.

By Plane:  Departing Flight on American Airlines  from LAX  Flight #2 – arrive at JFK at 5:13 p.m.

Frances O’Flynn, our local guide, will meet the group in the baggage claim area.  She will be holding up a sign with the name “Passports” on it.  Frances will be escorting the group to the Novotel New York  to assist with the group check in.

6:ish p.m.

DINNER

By Bus:  Bus transfer into Manhattan and check into Novotel.                   

By Foot:  CHAPERONED FREE TIME:  Once at the hotel, this evening is free.  You may attempt to go see a show or check out the shops and restaurants in the local area.  Remember, you must have a chaperone with you at all times.

11:30 p.m.

Room and lights out curfew is 11:30p.m. Students not adhering to the room curfew will be sent home at the parents expense and will not be permitted to continue in the MVHS drama activities.

 

Saturday, February 14, DAY 2: NEW YORK CITY.

7:ish a.m.

BREAKFAST

You must eat your breakfast before we leave in the morning.

8:00 a.m.  

By Bus:  We will gather in the lobby no later than 8 to meet with Frances.  This morning, enjoy a 4 hour guided sightseeing tour of Upper Manhattan, which includes landmarks such as Times Square, Fifth Avenue, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Central Park, United Nations, the Rockefeller Center, Trump Tower, and F.A.O. Schwartz — the toy emporium. Then take a look at the city from the 86th- floor observatory of the Empire State Building.  For this activity, you MUST BRING YOUR PICTURE ID.  You will not get into the Empire State Building without it!

12:00 p.m.  

LUNCH

By Foot:  The sightseeing tour ends back at the Novotel.  You will have approx. 1 ½ hours to freshen up and have lunch.  Remember, you must have a chaperone with you at all times.

1:30 p.m.  

By Foot:  The group will meet in the lobby of the Novotel and walk over together to the Al Hirschfield Theatre to see Wonderful Town.  This show starts at 2:00 p.m. and lasts approximately 2hrs 40min. 

4:45 p.m.  

DINNER

By Foot:  You will have approx. 2hrs 15min to explore Times Square and have dinner.  Remember, you must have a chaperone with you at all times.

7:30 p.m.  

By Foot:  The group will meet in the lobby of the Marquis Theatre (1535 Broadway and 43rd Street) to get your tickets for Thoroughly Modern Millie.  This show starts at 8:00 p.m. and lasts approximately 2hrs 45min. 

 

By Foot:  We will walk back to the Novotel. 

11:30 p.m.

Sunday, February 15, DAY 3: NEW YORK CITY.

8:ish a.m.

BREAKFAST

You must eat your breakfast before we leave in the morning.

9:30 a.m.  

By Foot:  The group will meet in the lobby of the Novotel and walk over together to Carroll Studios (351 W. 41st Street btwn 8th and 9th Avenues). We will divide into 2 groups. Approx. 10 minute walk.

10:00 a.m.  

Wicked workshop.  This is an interactive workshop.  Please be prepared to warm-up and participate.  Dress accordingly. This workshop will last approx. 1 ½ hours. 

11:30 a.m.  

LUNCH

By Foot:  You will have approx. 2hrs to explore Times Square and have lunch.  You should take this time to check out TKTS to see if there are any evening shows that you would like to see in the evening.  Remember, you must have a chaperone with you at all times.

2:30 p.m.  

By Foot:  The group will meet in the lobby of the Gershwin Theatre (222 W. 51st Street btwn Broadway and 8th Ave) to get your tickets for Wicked.  This show starts at 3:00 p.m. and lasts approximately 2hrs 50min. 

6:ish p.m.

DINNER

By Foot:  CHAPERONED FREE TIME:  After the show, this evening is free.  You may attempt to go see another show or check out the shops and restaurants in the local area.  Remember, you must have a chaperone with you at all times.

Monday, February 16, DAY 4: NEW YORK CITY.

6:ish a.m.

BREAKFAST

You must eat your breakfast before we leave in the morning.

6:45 a.m.  

By Foot:  The group will meet in the lobby of the Novotel and walk together to CBS Studios (at the GM building on West 59th Street and 5th Avenue, across the world renown Plaza Hotel). Bring your signs and dress warmly. Approx. 15 minute walk.

9:00 a.m.  

By Foot:  The group will meet in the lobby of the Novotel to meet our guides, Peter and John. From here we will start a historical walking tour of the Theatre District. The tour will last approx. 90 minutes.  The tour will end in front for the New Amsterdam Theatre (home of The Lion King). 

10:30 a.m.  

LUNCH

By Foot:  You will have approx. 2hrs to explore Broadway and have lunch.  You should take this time to check out TKTS to see if there are any evening shows that you would like to see this evening.  Remember, you must have a chaperone with you at all times.

1:00 p.m.  

By Bus:  The group will meet in the lobby of the Novotel to meet our guide, Frances. From here we will ride over to Battery Park.  For this activity, you MUST BRING YOUR PICTURE ID. 

By Ferry:  From Battery Park, we will take the ferry over to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty.  Once the tour is over, we will go with Frances back to Battery Park. For this activity, you MUST BRING YOUR PICTURE ID. 

5:ish p.m.

 

By Bus:  On our way back to the Novotel, we will take time to visit Ground Zero and honor those that lost their lives on 9/11/2001.  We expect that you will show the utmost respect for this area and the people in the area.

6:ish p.m.

DINNER

By Foot:  CHAPERONED FREE TIME:  Once at the hotel, this evening is free.  You may attempt to go see a show or check out the shops and restaurants in the local area.  This would be a good evening to go Ice Skating at Rockefeller Center ($8 to skate, $7 skate rentals).  Remember, you must have a chaperone with you at all times.

Tuesday, February 17, DAY 5: ROCKEFELLER CENTER.

7:ish a.m.

BREAKFAST

You must eat your breakfast before we leave in the morning.

8:00 a.m.  

By Foot:  The group will meet in the lobby of the Novotel and walk together to Rockefeller Center  (30 Rockefeller Plaza, 49th Street btwn 5th and 6th). We will divide into 2 groups. Approx. 10 minute walk.  We need to be at the studios at least ½ hour before our tour begins. For this activity, you MUST BRING YOUR PICTURE ID. 

9:00 a.m.

9:30 a.m.

Rockefeller Center Tour.  The first group will start at 9am, the second will start at 9:30.  The tour lasts approx. 1hr 10min. (The first group will have time to explore the NBC Experience Store while they wait for the second group to finish.  The second group will be able to do this before they start their tour.)

10:45 a.m.  

By Foot:  The group will walk over to Radio City Music Hall (1260 6th Avenue at 50th Street). 

11:00 a.m.

11:15a.m.

Radio City Music Tour.  The first group will start at 11am, the second will start at 11:15.  The tour lasts approx. 1 hour.

12:00 p.m.  

LUNCH

By Foot:  You will have approx. 1 ½ hrs to have lunch and return to the Novotel.  Remember, you must have a chaperone with you at all times.

1:30 p.m.   

By Bus:  The group will meet in the lobby of the Novotel and ride over to the Metropolitan Museum of Art (1000 5th Avenue and 82nd Street). You will have 3hrs to explore the Met.  For this activity, you MUST BRING YOUR PICTURE ID. 

Please note that your bags will be inspected at security.  Large bags will have to be checked. 

5:00 p.m.  

By Bus:  The group will meet in the lobby of the Met and take the bus back to the Novotel. 

5:30 p.m.

DINNER

By Foot:  You will have 2 hours to freshen up and have dinner.  Remember, you must have a chaperone with you at all times.

7:30 p.m.  

By Foot:  The group will meet in the lobby of the Novetel and walk to the Shubert Theatre (225 w. 44th Street btwn 7th and 8th Avenues) to see Gypsy.  This show starts at 8:00 p.m. and lasts approximately 2hrs 25min. 

By Foot:  We will walk back to the hotel after the show.

11:30 p.m.

Wednesday, February 18, DAY 6:

MORNING

CHAPERONED FREE TIME:  Eat breakfast, shop for that last minute souvenir, and pack your things.   Remember, if you leave the hotel, you must have a chaperone with you at all times.

12:00 p.m.  

The group will meet in the lobby of the Novotel to check out with Frances.

12:30 p.m.  

LUNCH

By Bus:  The group will board the bus and head to JFK. 

Eat lunch at the airport.

4:00 p.m.  

Departing Flight on American Airlines  from JFK Flight #133 arrive at LAX at 7:12 p.m.

7:45 p.m.  

By Bus:  The bus will pick the group up at LAX and take us to MVHS. 

9:30 p.m.

Parents will pick up students at MVHS.
