MISSION VIEJO HIGH SCHOOL DRAMA
WRITING A PLAY SUMMARY
1. Title - Plays use quotation marks unless they are considered classics, in which case you underline.
2. Author - Use full name please.
3. Publishing Information - Be sure to include the year!
4. Character Descriptions - A sentence to cover age, personality, etc. of each character.
5. Setting - A few sentences that give information on time, place, period in time, etc.
6. Plot Summary - Include in a few paragraphs the basic plot of the play. Indicate how many Acts and scenes. You can discuss each in a separate paragraph. Be careful not to "rewrite" the play. This should be one page unless the play is very complicated.
7. Production Elements - One paragraph on what you think production of this play would require in the way of sets, costumes, make-up, and lighting.
8. Your Opinion - Did you like the play? Why or why not? Is it something you would enjoy seeing? What type of audience would enjoy seeing this play? Is it something we should consider doing at Mission Viejo HS? Is it something you would like to go see if it is available in production in the area? Be honest. If you did not like the play be sure to explain why.
